My introduction

Aino Kauranen

I've been on the fine art path since I went to Savonlinna Secondary Upper School of Arts & Music. That was followed by SAMK Kankaanpää School of Fine Arts which I graduated from in 2016. Before and during all that I've been doodling digitally with a pen tablet since I was maybe 12 and with more purpose for the last 5-ish years. I do still love traditional painting and always will. But since graduating I've realized that the time in a studio gets very lonely and most of the work is spending time with your own thoughts. Which is also a good thing, but for me it's too much.

I still aim to make a living with my art, but fine art as a side project. I've always been a video game fan especially for the visual side of them. The backgrounds and overall lighting of game environments intrigue me. How the littlest changes in light affect the overall mood and experience. This spring I attended a 3-month long game making crash course Pelifarmi and that got me even more interested in pursuing studies in that field.

This blog will likely have video game -related posts, some news, maybe something about series I'm watching. Not sure yet.

Currently we are doing a small game project with a group of friends from Pelifarmi. I'm the environmental artist and I'll be probably posting something about it. Plants and trees and more plants and trees and rocks and plants. I really like painting the tedious stuff.

We are also filling applications with my group of friends and colleagues to different galleries around Finland for the next autumn 2019. I've been collecting photos of my ugly but weirdly aesthetic night food craving plates to be painted traditionally in a maybe Instagram-ish way. You know, those moments late at night when you just want to eat mashed potatoes and 3 cherry tomatoes with cold milk or something. I would call the series "Late Night Munchies" or something. But that's all about it I think, since it's not my main focus in life right now.
